Testing Criteria
Listed below are only some of the tests and criteria covered in this standard. For simplification, all tests and details of tests are not elaborated on. For exact and complete details of tests, etc. refer to the complete ANSI/BHMA standard.
1. Cycle Test
With the door holder set to withstand a minimum holding force of 15 pounds the door will be mechanically pushed closed and pulled open into the hold open position.

2. Force test
Door is open to the stop position. A force is then applied to the door to check the strength of the stop.

| Grade 1 | 300 pounds of force |
| Grade 2 | 200 pounds of force |
| Grade 3 | 100 pounds of force |
All forces are applied and readings shall be taken at a point 30 inches from the hinge and 40 inches from the bottom of a 36 inch by 84 inch door.
