Windstorm

Built to exceed even Florida’s stringent new codes

In hurricane-force winds, doors are critical to maintaining the integrity of a structure. A single breach can allow powerful winds to literally blow the roof off and turn debris into deadly missiles.

This was just one of the many findings of building and construction experts in 1992, as they sifted through the $28-billion worth of rubble left by Hurricane Andrew. As a result, they began to develop new windstorm codes and testing standards for extreme weather conditions.

Today, Florida has the most demanding new codes for windstorm certified doors and SARGENT has the most stringent testing standards.

A wide range of fully-certified windstorm assemblies and components

SARGENT offers hardware that meets and exceeds all standards of compliance for its intended use. This includes the most demanding codes designed for the most precarious areas in the country. SARGENT products are ideal and essential for every installation.

FEMA Impact Test Video

Click to download

This news report from WFSB Channel 3 shows remarkable video footage of the SARGENT, CURRIES and McKINNEY products being subjected to a FEMA impact test. In the test, a piece of lumber fired at 100 mph from an air cannon struck the door creating a dent, but leaving the opening structurally intact. The test was meant to simulate the impact of debris propelled by high winds from a hurricane or other violent storm.
