Overview
The 210,000-square-foot, $40 million Carol Grotnes Belk Library & Information Commons, commonly referred to as Belk Library, opened September 2005 in a newly-constructed five story building on the campus of Appalachian State University. TheLibrary holds varying collections, including the University's archives, an Instructional Materials Center for teachers and the W.L Eury Appalachian Collection for regional studies. The new library, designed to accommodate growth for the next 10 to 15 years, also has 29 group-study rooms, 250 computer workstations, a 125-seat lecture hall and
a cybercafe.
